Taco Tuesdays

Yesterday was the perfect day for a girls night ride.  Abra and I hit the Great Western Trail toward Cumming Tap for Tacopocalypse Tacos.  This is pretty much one of the greatest things to do in Des Moines and usually there are big crowds of friendly people.

It was nice that we were able to head there early for a change (we arrived at the bar about 5:15).  From where we start to the bar is about 8 miles one way.  The trail system is Des Moines is really good so there are plenty of other starting points.  We didn’t go very fast, probably averaged 14mph (it is slight uphill from DSM to Cumming), but mostly enjoyed a great evening and catching up without the guys.

When I saw Abra pulled up in her cute little car with the bike peeking out of the back I thought “Yeah, this is pretty much a perfect summer day.”

A vegan chorizo taco mixed with a potato poblano taco=pretty much a perfect dinner.

Sadly, no picture of the bajillion bikes that are usually there later on a gorgeous night. But it was great to be there early and catch up with Sam, the Tacopocalypse owner.

My husband and a colleague decided to ride out together (way better than a boring networking luncheon if you ask me!).  He went later than me and he assumed it would be a casual ride, but I got home and he laughed that his colleague just took off like mad and they averaged 18-20 mph on their way to the tap.  He earned his drinks. ha.
